Star-Lord (Guardians of the Galaxy mocktail)
1 habanero Pepper
1.5 oz Ginger Beer
3 oz Strawberry Orange Juice
1 oz Pineapple Juice
Peter Quill, the loveable badass, is the inspiration behind this drink. I wanted to make something that packed a hard punch, but was still kind of sweet and I feel the ingredients convey his character quite well. The spicy habanero plays nicely with the pineapple and the ginger, giving this mocktail a strangely satisfying aftertaste. Check out the video below to see how to make it. If you’d like to add a bit of alcohol, I suggest a shot of tequila!
Suggested music: Awesome Mix #1
Totoro (My Neighbor Totoro mocktail)
6 Mint leaves
1 oz Lime juice
1 oz Grapefruit juice
.5 oz Simple syrup
~2-3 oz Non-alcoholic Ginger Beer
My Neighbor Totoro may have been the first anime I ever saw. I watched it in 3rd Grade, back when I didn’t even know what anime was! Since then I have become a huge fan of Hayao Miyazaki, with my favorite movie of his being Princess Mononoke. I wanted to pay tribute to the director by making a mocktail inspired by one of his more famous characters. What’s your favorite Miyazaki movie? Chat with me about it in the comments of the video below. Make sure to subscribe to the Geek & Sundry Vlogs channel to get updates on geeky cocktails and subjects daily!
"To-to-ro? You’re Totoro!… I bet you’re Totoro…"
Frozen Summer (Disney’s Frozen mocktail)
Ingredients (makes two drinks):
1 cup Blue Hawaiian Punch
1 handful of Blueberries
2 oz Simple Syrup
I recently watched Disney’s Frozen and was very impressed! With this mocktail I was inspired by the films changing of the seasons and Olaf’s wish to experience summer. The drink is frozen but includes some summer feels with banana and tropical flavors in Hawaiian Punch. Check out the video on the Geek & Sundry Vlogs channel to see how to make it.
Sonic Screwdriver (Doctor Who mocktail)
3 oz Orange juice
1.5 oz Rose’s Blue Raspberry Mix
.5 oz Lime juice
3 oz Ginger ale
Directions: Mix all ingredients in a highball glass over ice and stir. Yell “Geronimo!” and serve. It doesn’t do wood.
Doctor Who returns to TV next weekend with the 50th Anniversary special! It’s incredible to think about how a show could stick around and adapt as long as it has. As a giant Whovian, I had to create a drink to celebrate. There are many sonic screwdriver cocktails on the net already and I thought it might be time to create something that everyone enjoyed.
