caoine: The Good Doctor (Mega Man / The Protomen cocktail)

Ingredients: 

• Bourbon (recommend Maker’s Mark, Bulleit, or Knob Creek), as much as you can handle
• SNAP (a ginger liqueur) to taste
• Ginger beer (ideally Reed’s Extra Ginger Brew or Gosling’s Ginger Beer)
• 2 Ole Smoky Tennessee Moonshine cherries

Directions: To make Doctor Light’s cocktail, mix all ingredients and serve on the rocks in a lowball glass. Spear the two cherries on a cocktail toothpick and place on top.

Emma Story, the drink’s creator, explains, “There was some discussion a while back about how shameful it is that the Drinkify entry for the Protomen is… a Bud Light. While I’ve been known to drink whatever shitty beer is available when the occasion calls for it, I figured we could do better than that… This has been a favorite cocktail of mine for a while, and I have served it to both K.I.L.R.O.Y. and the Reanimator with good results.”

Big-Bang Blast (Mega Man cocktail)

Ingredients:
2 shots Blackberry Brandy
Orange Juice

Directions: Fill a low ball glass about 2/3 full of orange juice.  Then, pour about two shots of the blackberry brandy very slowly over a spoon on top.  If done right, it creates a nice swirling effect. 

Side story to this drink:  I recently found out about the band, The Protomen.  They have two albums that make up a rock opera based on the story of Mega Man.  However, it’s not just some nerdy joke; the story is one of the best narratives I’ve heard through music and the songs are deep.  Give them a listen.  This drink is named after Protoman’s special attack.
