Famous Composer Nobuo Uematsu Brews His Own Beer

A while back, Dale North of Destructoid.com interviewed Japanese music legend Nobuo Uematsu.  Uematsu is famous for composing music in many video games, most notably the Final Fantasy series.  Turns out the man is not just awesome at making music, but beer as well!

Dale: I heard that you make your own beer. [laughs]

Uematsu: [in English] Yes.

Dale: You’d have to be a pretty big fan of beer to make your own, right?  What does it taste like? [loud laughter] What? I’d love to have a glass!

Uematsu: I think it’s really delicious. Have you tried making beer?

Dale: I’ve always wanted to, but never tried. What would you liken your beer to, brand wise?

Uematsu: It’s nothing like Japanese beer. It’s more of an ale. But my friend won’t drink it. [laughter]

Dale: Then he’s not a real friend.

Uematsu: He can’t be a real friend then.

The entire interview can be read here.

Big-Bang Blast (Mega Man cocktail)
Ingredients:2 shots Blackberry BrandyOrange Juice
Directions: Fill a low ball glass about 2/3 full of orange juice.  Then, pour about two shots of the blackberry brandy very slowly over a spoon on top.  If done right, it creates a nice swirling effect.
Side story to this drink:  I recently found out about the band, The Protomen.  They have two albums that make up a rock opera based on the story of Mega Man.  However, it’s not just some nerdy joke; the story is one of the best narratives I’ve heard through music and the songs are deep.  Give them a listen.  This drink is named after Protoman’s special attack. Gregg O’Donnell Plays Wind Scene (from Chrono Trigger) on Beer Bottles

One of the things I appreciate most about Chrono Trigger is the music.  I also appreciate a good beer.  In this video, Gregg O’Donnell plays Wind Scene (600 AD) using beer and Coke bottles resulting in one of the more creative covers I’ve heard.
