Blue and Red Materia Cocktails from Artnia
Last December, Square Enix opened up a cafe in Japan called Artnia. Among the many themed foods and drinks are cocktails base on Final Fantasy VII’s materia. Each drink contains a mixture of gin and lime juice along with an ingredient frozen into a sphere to represent the magical crystals. Blue materia is frozen blue curacao and red materia is frozen creme de cassis.

Loveless (Final Fantasy VII cocktail)
Ingredients:
1 oz. Pama Pomegranate Liqueur
2 oz. Dekuyper Razzmatazz
4 oz. Simply Lemonade with Raspberry
5 oz. Jones Soda, Fufu Berry flavor
1/2 oz. Grenadine
1 Lemon wheel
Directions: Pour the ingredients in order in a tall glass over ice. Give it a stir and garnish with a lemon wheel. It may not be the Gift of the Goddess, but it is a nice way to cool off after a long day.
“Infinite in mystery is the gift of the Goddess
We seek it thus, and take to the sky
Ripples form on the water’s surface
The wandering soul knows no rest.”

Besaid Island (Final Fantasy X cocktail)
Ingredients:
30 ml white rum (Bacardi Superior used)
30 ml watermelon liqueur (Marie Brizard Watermelon used)
1 lime (for lime juice and garnish)
Directions: Mix the rum and watermelon liqueur in a lowball glass over ice. Squeeze in lime juice and add a lime wedge to the side as a garnish. While this isn’t a drink you would order at a Blitzball match, it seems absolutely perfect for watching the Spira sunset on the beach.
