The 8-Bit Bar, Saint Louis

Make a Kickstarter Pledge to help make this awesome bar happen in Saint Louis, Missouri! Many cool rewards for donators as well.

We came up with the idea for the 8-Bit Bar when we decided St. Louis doesn’t need another ordinary bar. How many bars are there here for those of us who would rather watch Battlestar Galactica than a football game? None that we could think of.

We decided that St. Louis nerds and geeks NEED a place to congregate and know that they are in good company- the company of fellow individuals who share an interest in the less mainstream pursuits, such as science fiction, technology, video games, anime, intellectual pursuits, and almost anything else “geeky” one can imagine.

Our dream is to create a social hub that brings people together in an environment that enables them to use their common interests and passions to build relationships with the business, the community and each other.

More info available on their Website and Facebook page.

The 8-Bit Bar is looking pretty promising so far.  I can’t wait to add another video game bar to our list!

List of Geeky Bars World Wide
A new section of our site has been added to the navigation sidebar, titled “Bars”. The goal of this section is to, over time, create a complete list of bars around the world that are of the geeky variety.  Console gaming lounges, retro arcade bars, themed bars- if two of the main attractions are that it’s nerdy and serves alcohol, it belongs on the list.  We hope that in creating this list we can help expose these magical places to other geeks, helping to expand geek bar culture.
The list will be added to constantly as new bars are discovered or open up.  If you know of any bars that are missing from the list, please send them to The Drunken Moogle’s email.

Tweedle Rum and Tweedle Tea (Alice: Madness Returns Cocktail)
Gaming cafe and bar Loading once again has created a wonderful gaming cocktail, this time for EA’s Alice: Madness Returns.  The bar, located in Cornwall England, was even endorsed by EA!
This Alice cocktail is in two parts, each representing Tweedledum and Tweedledee.  Tweddlerum is a jelly-mixture of black sambuca and Mount Gay rum, while Tweedletea is an in-house infusion of super fruit tea and vodka mixed with an elderflower presse.  The combo looks deliciously twisted!
If you would like to create the drink yourself, Loading has a few suggestions.  To make the infused tea, place a few fruit tea bags and vodka into a water filter (warning: get a separate water filter for this!) and let it filter through.  Repeat running the vodka through until it takes on the flavor and color of the tea.  For the jelly, add gelatin (or a vegetarian alternative) and the alcohol to cold water and place on the stove.  Gently heat the mixture until everything has dissolved and then pour the mixture into ice cube trays.  Chill and serve.
