VideoGamesDaily.com interviewed Itagaki a few years back and talked about creating games, specifically Dead or Alive and its beach ball spin offs. Here are some snippits:
Kikizo(videogamesdaily.com): So, how many drinks does it take for ideas to stop being feasible, good ideas, and start being just complete nonsense?
Itagaki: Haha! It’s hard to say, because I am drinking pretty much full-time. Of course, there are ups and downs, waves, of how I drink in terms of the amount, but it’s a long period of time. In the last ten years - not that you asked this question - I think I had better ideas when I was drinking whisky. When I am drinking shochu, that’s a conservative drink, so the ideas are not that great. Beer is just like water to me, so it just helps me and everyone else loosen up a little bit, it doesn’t really contribute to coming up with ideas.
Kikizo(videogamesdaily.com): I am clearly nowhere near your level yet. When I read back the notes I make when drunk, I wonder how I managed to write such shit.
Itagaki: It just means that you haven’t been drinking enough. Haha! Not often enough. This afternoon, keep drinking more.
Sounds like he would be very interesting to make games with. My friend joked that he could see exactly how the conversations would go:
DoA Design Team Member: Sir, the game is done, we’re about to ship it.
Itagaki: *mumbles* Needs more boobs.
DoA Design Team Member: Sir? It’s done, the discs are -
Itagaki: BOOBS!

This game can actually be played with lots of fighting games! I will most likely be playing it with BlazBlue, as it is my current favorite at the moment.
The rules are simple:
Matches are 2 out of 3.
Take a shot if you get beat by a Super move.
If someone wins 3 matches in a row, they choose who takes a shot.

If you’ve made up a video game related drink and would like to have it featured on The Drunken Moogle, please send your idea, and preferably a picture, to fans [at] thedrunkenmoogle [dot] com. Thanks!
Also, questions and comments are very welcome. What kind of things do you like about the site? What would you like to see more of?
