The Drunken Moogle

gourmetgaming: Health Potion (Diablo cocktail)
Ingredients:1 Measure Cranberry Gin0.5 Measure Żubrówka (Buffalo/Bison Grass Vodka)0.5 Measure AmarettoSqueeze of Lime JuiceTop Up Tonic
Directions: Mix first four ingredients in a flask or glass and top off with tonic. Consume as needed.
A note from the creator:

The red health potion, stored in a mystical apothecary vessel, is incredibly iconic in gaming and is found in many a dungeon crawler. Since I’m so excited for Diablo III I thought I’d focus on the most famous and original version as found in the series (though I’m aware that health potions are not being used in Diablo III – boo!). So in the spirit of Christmas and New Year being a time for relaxation and recuperation I thought this surprisingly sweet and refreshing health potion is just what most of us are looking for.
Many people have been asking where to get the flask from - it was a lovely gift from a friend who picked it up at http://www.demijohn.co.uk/. For people outside the UK I came across this site which has a great selection http://www.specialtybottle.com/. Found somewhere better for the US? Let me know!

Gourmet Gaming Diablo - Health Potion

Drink Created and photographed by the wonderful GourmetGaming.

Vera (Firefly cocktail)
Ingredients:2 oz. Bourbon whiskey1/2 oz. Bacardi 1511/2 oz. Sake3/4 oz ginger syrup3-4 dashes Angostura Bitters
Instructions for Ginger Syrup:1 cup of water1 cup of sugar1/2 cup fresh diced GingerIn a pot or large pan, add the water, sugar, and half of the ginger in the beginning.  Boil for 1-2 minutes while mixing. Then add the other half once the first batch gets mushy. This makes it nice and spicy.  Let sit until everything is nice and syrupy, then remove from the stove and let cool.
Directions: Add ginger syrup and bitters to an Old Fashioned Glass.  Next add the rum and whiskey. Fill with cubed ice then float the Sake on top. Before drinking, give the glass a quick swirl to lightly distribute Sake.
Note from the creator:

I figured if Jane would drink a cocktail, it would be one of the original and manliest of cocktails, and Old-Fashion. But in the Firefly universe, American and Chinese cultures have mixed, so I felt it needed an Asian twist. This is where the ginger syrup and Sake comes in. The Bacardi 151 bumps the manliness factor of this drink up by giving a much higher alcohol content, plus the Bacardi gives an extra spicy, smokey flavor. Enjoy yourself a Vera.
